Orthodontics at Dental Arts of Salem

background

At Dental Arts of Salem, we help patients achieve better aligned, more beautiful smiles with clear acrylic aligners from ClearCorrect. Both systems of orthodontia employ custom-created acrylic mouthpieces that fit over the upper and lower teeth. When worn for the majority of the day, they gradually ease teeth into their proper positions. And since these aligners are clear, they are virtually undetectable by others.

Each patient receives a series of aligners that are each worn for about two weeks before the next one in the series starts to be worn. By the time the last aligner in the series has been worn for the last two weeks, the teeth are finally in their proper positions.

These clear braces can correct nearly every alignment problem that metal braces can. All of the following situations can be addressed with ClearCorrect:

  • Overbites
  • Underbites
  • Crossbites
  • Overcrowding
  • Gaps between the teeth
  • Open bites

These acrylic aligners are 3D-printed by ClearCorrect technicians based on measurements and 3D scans of a patient’s mouth. The acrylic used is BPA-free.

Because these aligners are removable, the patient can brush and floss their teeth normally throughout treatment. Because they can be removed at mealtime, there is no restriction on what a person can eat during treatment. Also, these aligners don’t have the potential to damage or discolor teeth the way metal brackets do.

Why You Should Straighten Your Smile

When your teeth are not properly aligned, the way your upper and lower teeth meet could also be misaligned. This means excessive stress on parts of your teeth which are not designed for it. The misaligned bite can also place undue stress on the temporomandibular joint (located in the front of your ear) which can result in jaw, face, or neck pain, and other problems as well.

Poorly aligned teeth are also harder to keep clean. There are usually corners and narrow spaces that are impossible to reach with a brush and which might even prevent the use of dental floss. The risk of tooth decay and gum disease is higher when the teeth are crooked.

There is also the aesthetic aspect: most people prefer to have straight, white teeth. More attractive teeth can be a big confidence booster and turn a withdrawn person into someone who enjoys smiling with friends.

We are delighted to offer this updated orthodontic treatment to our neighbors in Salem, Methuen, Pelham, Windham, Atkinson, North Salem, South Salem,  Bedford, Haverhill, Derry, Londonderry, and Hampstead.

There are ClearCorrect programs both for teens and adults. If you never had your teeth straightened as a child, you may be able to use this system to straighten them now. The dentists at Dental Arts of Salem are happy to explain this procedure to you and give you an estimate of how long orthodontic treatment with clear aligners might take.
